A range of natural teeth and plastic (typodont) teeth in jaws are available for practice.

Crown and Bridge preparations

Crown and bridge preparations can be trained on single teeth or in full jaws. Many schools use Simodont to offer students crown and bridge training hours before moving on to practice on plastic teeth in the pre-clinic.

Using the Simodont students can get a lot of training hours with only little lost time. There is no need to set up a workstation, install and replace practice objects and clean up afterwards. There is optionally unlimited practice and repeat.
Students can work independently and safely without teacher supervision. Special features are available to help students and teachers with assessing the work during the preparation. Teachers can also assess the work at a later point in time, creating planning flexibility for teachers and students.

For Nissin typodont users, the PRO200 and PRO500 series models have been included. With the PRO700 coming this year

The tooth long-axis can be shown to verify preparation orientation.
The original outline versus the prepared tooth can be made visible and tools are available to make measurements on the preparation. Also damage to neighbouring elements can be shown.
Students can switch on/off the antagonist to check their preparation.

Over 80 different burs and hand instruments are available, many dedicated for crown and bridge preparations.

The tooth or jaw is positioned the same as the actual orientation in a patient’s mouth. The teacher can enable/disable/limit the tooth repositioning by students using the space mouse.
Students can save and ‘rewind’ to a point earlier in the preparation, to repeat or focus on a difficult part of the procedure. Students can have unlimited practice and repeat.
Self-assessment rubrics are available to help students reflect on their work and to provide teachers with insight into the students’ thinking.
New exercises can be created or edited with an easy template system.
Teachers can remotely view students at work.
Teachers can evaluate and grade students’ work as soon as students have submitted their work.
Students can read the teacher’s feedback on the Simodont touch screen.
