Implantology

The implantology procedure focusses on training the correct drilling position. The cases are based on Nissin’s IMP5003 model. Cases are provided for tooth positions #45, #46 and #47. Each position can be trained in three levels of difficulty.

Different drill sizes are available during the treatment preparation. The cases with drill guide offer a drill with hard stop, which will help you to drill to the required depth and prevent you from drilling too deep into the bone.

The bone model simulates the two layers of bone density. A difference is felt in the hardness of the cortical and spongious bone structures.

Objective assessment

Probably the most valuable feature within the implantology procedure in Simodont, is the objective assessment and scoring functionality. Here the added value for simulation based training comes to its full potential.

The bone is provided with a target and leeway definition. This can be used as a visual indicator, but also to assess the treatment objectively, and even score it. Touching the no-go zone or the nerve is detected and could lead to a failed treatment directly.
This will help students to review their performance with direct feedback, and provide the opportunity to train their skills.

Guided drilling

The drill guide, in combination with a drill with hard stop, helps guiding the student in the first steps of the drilling process.

Real time angulation assistance will give the student a continuous indication of the angle of the drill compared to the long axis of the drill guide.
